Coal generated electricity remains controversial, currently supplying 38% of American electricity needs, but generating more greenhouse gas per kilowatt hour than any other fossil fuel. While coal use is declining in the United States , it is increasing in Europe, and China generates 80% of its electricity from coal.  Large coal-fired electricity generating plants have dotted much of American for over 100 years.  This series provides a glimpse of the impact of two local plants on our landscape.
