South Rome

An old neighborhood situated just south of the main business district, South Rome was once a prosperous neighborhood.  Economic and demographic shifts over the past 100 years have wrought major changes - once home to many business and city leaders, 30 to 40% of its residents now fall below the poverty line.  Numerous abandoned homes and vacant lots dot the neighborhood, intermixed with a few well-kept houses and gardens, churches, section 8 housing and the occasional crack house. This series deals with the current residents of the neighborhood as they struggle to maintain their homes, safety and community pride.
